Welcome
Dr. Mimi Hoang* (she/her) is an internationally-recognized psychologist, life coach, public speaker, and community organizer specializing in the LGBTQ+ and Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. Since the 1990s, she has co-founded three organizations for bisexual, pansexual, and fluid (AKA "bi+") individuals - the Los Angeles Bi+ Task Force (LABTF), amBi Los Angeles, and Fluid at UCLA. Dr. Mimi has authored multiple publications and earned a seat at the landmark 2013 White House Bisexual Community Roundtable which sparked her focus on bi+ affirmative counseling and mental health. Her steadfast leadership has earned her multiple awards and recognitions, including being one of Go Magazine's "100 Women We Love" and being named “One of the Most Significant Women in the Bisexual Movement.”
Dr. Mimi's expertise has landed her over 10 podcast interviews including the Sexology Podcast and Smart Sex, Smart Love, and quotes in the Washington Post and Cosmopolitan. Her community advocacy was documented in Jan Dee Gordon's LGBTQ of Steel photography book and in the historical exhibit "Lesbians to Watch Out For: 90's Queer L.A. Activism." Not afraid to be "the first," Dr. Mimi rallied the first bisexual pride contingent at LA Pride in 2008, organized the first Bi Arts Fest to commemorate Bi Visibility Day in 2010, and co-chaired the first bi+ health conference called B+ Well in 2024. Dr. Mimi is currently the owner of Living in Color Therapy, Program Coordinator of the LGBTQIA+ Affirmative Therapy Center at Airport Marina Counseling Services, and professor at the University of Southern California. *How to pronounce my name: Mimi Hoang |
